Troubled care home group Four Seasons Health Care (FSHC) is to hand over 57 leasehold homes to new operators, after reaching an agreement with the properties’ landlord, Healthcare Property Holdings.
HealthInvestor UK understands that 44 operating care homes and 13 closed homes owned by Healthcare Property Holdings will be taken over by operators including Roseberry Care Centres, Belsize Healthcare, Harbour Healthcare and Barchester Healthcare.
Martin Healy, chairman of FSHC, said: “As part of our ongoing work around our leasehold estate, we’re pleased to be achieving the orderly migration of these homes to new operators. By working closely with regulators, the new operators and the landlord we will minimise the impact on residents, families and colleagues, which is in line with our priority to maintain the delivery of continuity of care for our residents.”
The news comes in the wake of the sale of FSHC’s brighterkind division of high-end homes to Barchester Healthcare in November and the collapse in October of the planned acquisition of its freehold properties by US hedge fund H/2 Capital.
Since then, Tim Hammond, chief executive resigned as chief executive amid reported concerns over the future of the company.
FSHC chairman Martin Healy has been appointed as interim chief executive.
Healthcare Property Holdings was founded in 2007 and has its office registered in St Helier.
