The US now has more confirmed cases of Covid-19 than any other country, with more than 85,500 positive tests, according to findings by Johns Hopkins University.

According to the latest figures, the US has overtaken China’s infection numbers which currently stand at 81,782 cases. 

The US has reported almost 1,300 Covid-19-related fatalities.

Covid-19 tests have become available in all 50 states and more than 552,000 tests have been conducted nationwide, according to Vice President, Mike Pence.

Meanwhile in Europe, Spain has recorded a new record in its single-day death toll. There have been 769 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 4,858. 

The country now has 64,059 confirmed cases up from 56,188 yesterday.

The Spanish government has also announced that it has had to withdraw 9,000 Chinese-made coronavirus testing kits from use after it emerged that they had an accurate detection rate of just 30%.
